Dear Volvo friends,
I am faced with the question of exchanging my 520i touring from 1995 for a Volvo V70 I with the simplest 2.5l 140 hp non-turbo because of the better space available. I drove this engine myself in a V70 for about 10,000 km. Despite the 400,000 km, this was certainly much more powerful than the M50B20tü due to its cubic capacity (fully loaded with a roof tent and a lot of luggage for a few weeks, we are on the road slowly and comfortably. And the car with a child and the relatively small trunk leaves a lot to be desired left over)
My question to you is: Is the changeover planned due to the available space also worthwhile in terms of quality/robustness/sustainability (maintenance/repairs)? Let's say for a period of 5 years?
Who of you may have experience with the E34 touring and may have switched to the V70 (1st or, I think, 2nd generation)? Why?
The cars are already around 22-25 years old and I don't expect a new car. But I want to travel reliably over thousands of kilometers. I am aware that each of the engines can sometimes drive 400-600tkm. With appropriate care. But as of today, considering the rising prices for parts / workshops and fuel.. *How do you assess the situation?*
My E34 drives well, although I find it to be much more sluggish than my former E36 318i, but as far as driving performance is concerned, there is no need to go into detail. Volvo 850 is also out of the question, since the available cars are rocked or overpriced - in my opinion. If there are interesting exchange offers, gladly.
Best regards,
BMdude
