Outriders brings first big patch, gift you for the server problems

The Outriders developers have announced server maintenance for Thursday, April 8, 2021. Along with the announcement, they also revealed that the first major patch is coming. This should fix a number of errors and problems - including a particularly nasty bug that can delete all equipment.

What is this update? The first major update for Outriders fixes a number of bugs that have caused difficulties since the launch on April 1st. The main points in the update are:

This is the first real update. There were previously minor hotfixes, but they only fixed specific problems.

When will the update appear? The developers are saying that the update should be installed "next week", i.e. probably between April 12th and 16th. Apparently the patch is coming for all platforms, but it is not yet clear if it will appear at the same time.

Another server maintenance took place today, April 8, between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. However, this has no direct connection with the big update.

It also fixes or at least mitigates a bug that causes equipment to be lost. You can find the full patch notes in the developer's post (via Steam and reddit).

What is this error exactly? Until recently, there was a bug that allowed players to lose their entire inventory. Apparently, this mainly occurred when they tried to join other players' lobbies.

A crash then resulted in the entire inventory disappearing and the character being naked. Because of this, even after some issues with co-op were fixed, it was still advisable to play solo.

However, the issue is intended to be fixed with the update and players who have lost their inventory will have all lost items restored. The recovery is expected to take place in the coming weeks.

Balancing and nerfs for some classes

These are the balancing adjustments: In addition to the bug fixes, there should be new balancing. The repeatable collection quests (Hunter, Bounty, and Historian) will no longer reward you with legendary items if you complete them multiple times.

Also, it will be harder to get the highest rank in some of the Expeditions. Expeditions are the Outriders endgame content that many players repeat to farm loot.

There will also be adjustments to the classes. This is how many of the so-called “Bullet Builds” are nerfed, which rely on an ability that strengthens the shots. One such build is the Technomancer's Plagueball build, which is considered the top tier. According to our readers on MeinMMO, these changes are apparently already live.

Which classes are affected? According to developers, assassins and technomancers in particular have been able to take too much advantage of the builds without having to really invest much. This should now be a little more balanced, but it remains to be seen how severe the changes will be.

The devs emphasize that balancing is managed by a separate team. The progress of working on the patch is not affected by balancing and does not affect the fixing of bugs.

Any player who played between March 31st and April 11th or lost their inventory in a crash will receive such a pack. The rewards will be credited to the character with the highest level.
