The ton of carbon dioxide (CO2) will in all probability have a price in Austria from July 1, 2022: Then the ton of CO2 will cost 30 euros (until December 2022). From January 1, 2023, the price should rise to 35 euros, in 2024 it should be 45 euros and 55 euros in 2025. The CO2 pricing is added to the already existing energy taxes (MÖSt, natural gas tax, VAT). This makes heating and mobility in Austria more expensive for all those who use fossil fuels. The increase in price would also be reflected in many other goods and would be passed on.
With a CO2 tax in Austria, a step is taken in the direction of cost truth and its introduction is therefore welcomed, says the Austrian heating industry, which is represented by the Association of Austrian Boiler Suppliers (VÖK).
But in view of the current increase in energy costs and the coming CO2 tax, many Austrians (m/f/d) are wondering what to use for heating. And where/how to save costs.
