What it's all about: Lighting renovation using light contracting now saves more money than ever - help for companies comes from Bremerhaven, also for more sustainability and CO2 reduction

"We now switch off machines by the hour, customers tell us. Quite a few companies are getting into difficulties due to the exploding electricity prices. This is exactly where we help," says Jandirk Ebel, Managing Director of CONLED Lichtcontracting GmbH. "This year, demand is higher than ever, because it's no longer an insider tip that contracting for the installation of a new lighting system means you don't have to make any investments, but you can achieve high savings. And the advantage of the CO2 reduction is also absolutely attractive and even eligible."

From Bremerhaven, CONLED ensures that industrial companies, corporations, shipyards and SMEs with large halls save a large part of their energy costs with a new LED lighting system throughout the DACH region. The financial benefit is made possible by light contracting. This means that CONLED takes on the planning, purchase, assembly and maintenance of the LED lighting system, which customers only use at a fixed contracting rate for 10 years. "The companies remain fully liquid and the monthly contracting rate is below the current energy costs, which we can contractually guarantee. Both are incredibly important for many companies, which in 2022 will be overwhelmed by costs without stopping production or manufacturing can."

Study: "The greatest potential for saving CO2 is in the light"

In addition to the cost savings, companies can meet their CO2 reduction requirements by switching to environmentally friendly LED lighting. The new German government aims to achieve a greenhouse gas-neutral industrial landscape in Germany by 2045. The lighting refurbishment makes a contribution to this that has so far been underestimated. CONLED customers alone have now saved almost 100,000 tons of CO2, just thanks to the new LED lighting. This commitment to climate protection and sustainability is rewarded by the public sector with the BEG EM funding. Contracting contracts have been funded with this non-repayable grant for a year now. CONLED's offer meets all the requirements for payment of the subsidy. From the application to the allocation, the company takes over the entire process for maximum grants of up to 40% of the contracting sum and passes them on to the customers.

Jandirk Ebel continues: "In order to reduce CO2, people often only think of the manufacturing process. The fact is that 15 percent of the total electricity costs in Germany are used for lighting, 206 terawatt hours of electricity annually. Around 63 percent of this is attributable to the industrial sectors , commerce, trade and services. A nationwide conversion of all conventional light sources to LEDs could reduce CO2 emissions in Germany by 13 million tons a year. These advantages have not yet caught on in everyone's minds, although they are also relevant in terms of CO2 pricing According to a recent study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research, almost two-thirds of the German companies surveyed are still using predominantly outdated lighting technology.Only 18 percent have equipped more than three-quarters of their lighting with LED technology Figures make it clear where there is enormous savings potential - in terms of CO2 consumption and energy savings."
