Hello and Moin,

I've been driving my moose (V70 II 2.4 20V) for some time now and the check engine light keeps coming on for a day or two with the message "Emissions - maintenance required"

Since I was in the workshop for something else (independent workshop with a very good affinity to the Pro Ford Volvos), I had the topic read out.

Now there was a note for me in the error log that this is not good news, because this error means that it is imperative, and preferably not to wait too long, for the toothed belt to be changed at a cost of around 1,000 euros !!!

Error is:

P0011. -- Bank 1 intake camshaft position --> Excessive advance / function faulty

He didn't even address the second error DTC 640F with the camshaft sensor defective. That couldn't be the cause. This needs to be repaired as well.

I've attached the error log. The car drives normally with absolutely clean behavior, regardless of whether the error message comes up or not.

Subjectively, I have the feeling that the error message tends to appear when the tank volume is just before the reserve, and then disappear again immediately or a short time after the refueling process. But I can't prove that empirically, and it's just my subjective memory.....

In the last month I changed the spark plugs. The condition of the installed ones was horrible (also attached photo). All 5 candles were also oily on the thread, which can happen, I think.

Camshaft Excessive Advance Error Code P0011

I was irritated that the built-in Bosch spark plugs are not specified online for this Volvo engine (Bosch FGR7DQE+). It feels like the car has been driving more homogeneously and evenly since the change, but has slightly lost some of its acceleration.

I am writing this because I wanted to ask if this could also have something to do with the error message?

Although I've had the error again since the change.

My question is, does anyone know this error? I have not been able to discover P0011 here.

Is it really necessary to change the toothed belt quickly?

Are around 1,000 euros justified for this? Sounds a bit high for an independent workshop.

What can you test, try or swap in advance to see if the error goes away?

Thank you in advance for your help,

LG from Lübeck
