There is a lot that can be done with fashion and we can really let off steam. Unfortunately, many trends are not exactly beneficial for our figure, so we quickly look fatter than we really are. But since we want to avoid this at all costs, we should avoid certain styles and opt for looks that flatter our figure

Fashion has been considered a real secret weapon for ages, because with the right styling you can skilfully stage your figure and conceal unpopular areas in no time at all and emphasize others. Of course, when we are looking for a suitable outfit for a special occasion, we only want to present ourselves from our best side and bring out our assets. Because of the wrong dress, unflattering trousers, an bulky skirt, unsuitable shoes or a widening color combination, gaining ten kilos and looking two sizes fatter is a real horror scenario, which we absolutely want to avoid. To avoid this faux pas, we've rounded up five styling mistakes that don't exactly flatter our figure and make us look fatter than we really are.

Styling-Fehler: Diese Teile lassen dich dicker aussehen, als du wirklich bist

1. Too tight pants, skirts, dresses and co.

You've been wearing the same size for ages and, as a matter of principle, you buy all your clothes with exactly the right number on the label, no matter what material or cut they are made of - that's one of the worst styling mistakes of all! Clothing sizes are of course a good orientation for us, but the dimensions vary from brand to brand, so that size 36 does not always fit the same. Anyone who squeezes themselves into jeans that are too tight or wears a top that is too short out of false, offended pride immediately looks fatter than they really are. So we shouldn't take the information on the label too seriously and throw on a pair of perfectly fitting jeans that are maybe one size larger, but emphasize our buttocks and make our legs appear slimmer.

2. The oversize trend

Even if the trend looks incredibly cool and casual, it flatters our figure less: Oversize blazers, oversized T-shirts and XXL sweaters are particularly popular at the moment and convince with their comfort. As relaxed as it is to live in the loose clothing, they do not ensure a slim silhouette and rather cheat on us a few more kilos on our hips, which are actually not there. If you still don't want to do without the trendy style, you can style a long, wide T-shirt with a waist belt, because that way we form a slim middle of the body. A hip, wide model is available from Caliyo for about 10 euros on Amazon!

3. The wrong shoes

You can do a lot with shoes, but in addition to the great feature of making your legs look slimmer, other models unfortunately do exactly the opposite: our beloved, chunky sneakers, flat sandals or mules are particularly comfortable and look great with jeans, culottes or Marlene and palazzo pants look super cool, but if you're not blessed with long legs, you might end up looking a little fatter than you really are. Round toe caps in particular optically shorten the leg - it is therefore better to choose flat, pointed models or to use versions with a heel. Pointed mules with a small heel are a real miracle weapon and make our legs look slimmer in no time - a popular flat model from find. are available in the trendy colors blue and yellow, from around 63 euros on Amazon.

4. Unfavorable patterns

Patterned clothing can be seen everywhere these days. The selection ranges from animal prints such as leo, tiger or zebra, to checks and stripes, to large and small prints. Unfortunately, pattern trends are not particularly beneficial for the figure: Large prints in particular, which go over our chest and stomach and are possibly even warped by stretch material, make us look fatter. Printed, tight pants are not slimming and wear out quickly. We should therefore rely on small patterns and combine simple parts, such as monochrome trousers or a straight skirt with the eye-catching pieces.

5. Layering Looks

With fall approaching, this trend is a constant fad: layered looks, where many layers are worn on top of each other. With the slender top models, the combinations of fluttering trousers, a wide pullover, a long coat or a thick puffer jacket and possibly a thick scarf always look good, but the many layers really hide even the most beautiful figure. Even if the onion look keeps you really warm on cold days, it doesn't exactly make you slim. In order not to look fatter than we really are, we should rather rely on high-quality materials such as a well-cut sweater made of cashmere or wool, which we combine with narrow jeans and a straight trench coat, because this stretches the figure and, despite layering, emphasizes our beautiful silhouette.
