+++ Herthinho shows how it's done: As part of the information campaign of the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family, our mascot informed a daycare center in Berlin-Pankow about the correct use of the lollipop tests. Herthinho showed the children an explanatory video. Check it out now! More information can be found here.

+++ Sign of more climate protection: Together with strong partners, the Olympic Stadium is building a photovoltaic system (PV) on the roof of our home arena, which will cover around eleven percent of local energy consumption in the future - a project with great appeal for the urban energy transition and climate protection. The investor and operator is the eco-energy supplier Polarstern, which is responsible for the solar power supply using a power purchase agreement (PPA) from the local PV system. "The local solar power supply for large event and sports facilities, with its image effect and the possible CO2 savings here, makes an important contribution to our future, both socially and climatically," says Florian Henle, Managing Director of the green electricity provider Polarstern. Lighthouse projects like this support the acceptance and importance of the decentralized energy transition. To implement the campaign, the operator installed a 605.25 kilowatt peak photovoltaic system on the outer concrete ring of the stadium roof. According to forecasts, the 1,614 photovoltaic modules generate almost 615,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a year: This corresponds to the annual electricity requirements of around 205 three-person households! The PV project supplies the cooling, ventilation and lighting for our blue and white living room. The stadium operator does not have to invest in the PV system himself - a major advantage in urban expansion of renewable energies. "For us, the PV system on the roof is a further step towards the CO2 neutrality of the entire property," explains Timo Rohwedder, Managing Director of Olympiastadion Berlin GmbH. It is the basis for the goal of a climate-neutral stadium and already means savings of 225 tons of CO2 per year!
