The plant substance viviro, which is obtained on tobacco plantations on Yara and which Castillo hopes that this proves to be a highly effective medicine against cancer, should bring about the desired prosperity. For this purpose, Castillo uses forced labor on the plantations and tests the drug violently on its own population.

But there is resistance to Yara.As part of the guerrilla movement "Libertad", players as Dani Rojas - optionally man or woman - plunge into a liberation war to overthrow Castillos regime.

Little new in paradise

The gripping starting point with a breaking revolution on an island that is strongly reminiscent of Cuba, and the great actor Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain promise a very big story. But what follows is rather quick disillusionment than enthusiasm.

Because what comes now follows the usual pattern of the well -known shooter.Together with other resistance fighters, we deliver a relentless war with the regime. We have to conquer bases, deactivate alarms and free allies from prisons, eliminate the opposing key figures, collect important resources and build up rebel bearings - and thus the network around Antón Castillo more and more tensioned in order to finally push the tyrant off the throne.

Holding on well -known habits is extremely a shame - the Cuban backdrop of the game world would have had much more potential for a really good story and thus also gave room for new facets in the gameplays.Instead, eternal sequels - for example, shape the constant burning of the drug fields that we have known since "Far Cry 3" - the game. The only difference is that the island is not called Rook Island, but Yara.

In contrast, there are no comprehensive innovations, as Ubisoft announced in the run -up to Far Cry 6's publication.Only a few game elements are actually new and, above all, game -defining.The fact that the improvements of the skills are connected to clothing instead of freely switching skills is rethought, but ultimately changes too little in the game feeling. The much simpler idea is much more relevant that you can simply put the weapon away -and then undisturbed by opposing soldiers explore the world of Yara.

Thanks to the additional means of transportation, Dani Rojas can move quickly and comfortably on Yara - in addition to the usual selection of cars, helicopters, aircraft, boats, boats and jet skis, paths can also be used on the dusty guerrilla apathies in "Far Cry 6" on horses. In addition, players can call up their own car, which can be equipped with all kinds of extras, at any time and anywhere via the weapon wheel.

The new way to expand your own vehicles and access them at any time is fun and can be helpful in different missions. An opposing tank has to be blown up and the portable weapons don't allow that?If you equip your car with a rocket launcher on the roof and call the vehicle spontaneously, you have better cards! However, the steering comes on the PlayStation 4 quite jerky and takes the fun with the driving experience, which we already criticized in the test for "Far Cry 5".

On the other hand, hunting loses completely important-so far always a firm and important part of the Far-Cry loan.Players can also pursue the hunting tradition in the sixth part of the hunting tradition, but collecting bones or furs is no longer necessary to produce new equipment. In principle, you can let it be completely, it has become so unimportant.

Because with the loot system newly introduced in "Far Cry 6", special items of clothing can only be found in the game world or acquired directly from dealers.Collected animal products can be exchanged in plastic, which can be used to build new weapons.Since you also get plastics in other ways, this is not absolutely necessary.

This innovation is therefore not really successful.Because many routine fans of the Far-Cry loan may have been fun for the hunting tradition and collecting animal materials to produce individual equipment. The fact that clothing can only be bought from dealers is more boredy than variety and is also nothing special.

The abundance of tasks does not replace the lack of depth of content

In the spirit of the Open World, we can move completely freely on the island in the role of Dani Rojas and always determine our own flow of the game ourselves.Whether we follow the main story or initially devote ourselves to side missions and employment such as fishing is up to ourselves.

In fact, on the island of Yara, which is clear to cuba with her tobacco plantations and classic cars, there is a lot to do..The abundance of tasks that are visible on the world map in the form of many colorful icons does never seem to end.Sometimes ask us good guerrilla fighters for help with the hostage liberation, sometimes we have to destroy opposing air defense systems or take enemy bases with our combat crocodile "Guapo" in tow.

Despite all of this, Yara seems amazingly peaceful away from the fighting locations.Perhaps it is due to the very realistic and exceptionally beautifully designed landscapes that the island is largely idyllic despite the domination and the dark action. Here the storyline and the backdrop of a Caribbean island sinking in revolutionary stamps would have given up much more, but this lacks - as is so often the case - in depth.

After a few hours, the game will be boring quite quickly despite the change - or maybe that's exactly why.Because the oversupply of side missions, tasks and puzzles is almost over.In view of the crowded Open World, the leading main story is becoming the background.Which is certainly due to the fact that the story, as with the last "Far Cry" parts, is actually more accessible than the reason for buying.

This is a shame mainly because there would have been the most potential here to breathe new life into the series. In the past, games like "Red Dead Redemption 2" showed that a huge open world and a magnificent story can work in parallel to each other in parallel. And the backdrop and the basic idea of the story of "Far Cry 6" would have given the necessary space for this.

Instead, however, the lack of depth of action leads to trivialities.Although Dani Rojas takes an enemy military base after the next and destroys numerous air defense systems, nothing really feels important. If a problem is done, the next task is already waiting.Individual victories have hardly any weight and hardly feel like a success that would somehow influence the progress in history.

Too much riot harms the tension

Routine Far-Cry players should also think about installing an additional level of difficulty when playing Far Cry 6-maybe keeping the controller wrong around.Because the two difficulty settings selected in the game are both too easy-even for those who are not a proven shooter expert.

In so-called story mode, the lighter of the two possible game variants, Dani can withstand a hail of bullets and even the shelling of a helicopter for minutes without major problems. And if it gets dangerous, there are ammunition and medicine on every corner.

No matter what mission it is and which opponent Dani meets: Any other tactics than struggling with a lot of balls to the destination proves to be unnecessarily complicated and lengthy.Silent machetes attacks and careful sneaking are no longer the royal road.

Instead, you get the farthest with a brilliant weapon fireworks by letting attackers open with the flame thrower or hunting tanks using the rockets of the Supremo backpack. Therefore, the process is always the same at the end.

Also the various "Amigos" - the animal companions who can be activated in the course of the game - provide a lot of riot in the fighting. The colorful fighting tap Chicharrón picks opposing soldiers to death, the teeth of fighting crocodile "Guapo" make short processes with opponents and the cute roof dog "Chorizo" can use all of its charm to distract enemy soldiers.

If you initially fall enthusiastically into the battle, the tension loses in the course of the game. The armed fights are too harmless, the opponents can be defeated too easily. The wide arsenal of weapons and the possibility of being able to build their own firearms from all kinds of materials on workbenches cannot comfort either..Because once you have the strongest weapons together, you stay with these.

Far Cry 6 is a good shooter, but also no longer

Most fans of "Far Cry" will have fun in the sixth part of the main series - at least for a few hours. The game provides (almost) everything you are used to from Far Cry: an exotic and fantastically designed game world paired with some dark story accents, a large selection of weapons and of course a lot of fights and shootings.Because of this explicit brutality, the drug issue and the sometimes rather coarse humor, the video game is only suitable for adults - "Far Cry" is not free from 18 years.

In the end, "Far Cry 6" has not become a reinvention of the series, as one or the other hoped for it.The immense potential of the actor Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain and the scene of the Caribbean island based on Cuba was not used.Instead, Ubisoft mostly sticks to the well -known gameplay and also supposed innovations such as the abolition of the hunting tradition have backranged more.Less extremely strong weapons and more tactical challenges have also been good for the game and the tension.Unfortunately, it has not become a revolution.
