Due to heavy rain, flooding and numerous fire brigade operations occurred in the municipality of Schiffdorf (Cuxhaven district) on Sunday. Initially, residents had called the emergency services because of a water accumulation in a pasture, as the fire brigade announced. Accordingly, the water threatened to flow into adjacent houses. According to the information, a flood could be prevented with the help of two pumps. The operation was over after about six hours.
The local fire brigade in Wehdel was alerted at around 1 p.m. due to flooding on the site of a single-family home, it was said. With the help of a slurry tanker owned by a farmer, water could be pumped out and the spread to the house prevented. Not far from this operation, the local fire brigade in Geestenseth had to move in and pump out the water on a flooded street.
In the early afternoon, a private home was also flooded. At the same time, other fire-fighting teams were deployed due to the severely flooded district road 61, which then had to be completely closed. By the early evening, all assignments had been completed. There were no injuries.
