Hyaluron occurs naturally in our bodies. However, if it is to be mass-produced for cosmetics, it is produced in the laboratory. In earlier times, the active ingredient was obtained from animal materials. Cockscombs in particular were used for this.

However, since the 1990s there has been a process that produces "vegetarian" hyaluronic acid. In this biochemical process, proteins from yeast are fermented. The hyaluron obtained should be purer than the hyaluronic acid obtained from animal materials and should therefore not trigger any allergies.
