The significance of a successful start to the season for the remainder of the season is probably no other two teams of the DEL2 understand as well as the Löwen Frankfurt and their North Hessian rival from Kassel. While the lions laid the foundation for their brilliant season so far with a winning streak, the sled dogs continue to pant after their high ambitions after a completely messed-up start.

This should be additional motivation for the two Hessian opponents when they meet after the international break. The 44th edition of the eternally young and only true Hessen derby in the DEL2 starts on Friday evening in the Frankfurt ice rink at 7:30 p.m.

Parking information

Paid parking spaces (€2.50 per car) are available on the FSV site.

We recommend arriving by public transport - all Löwen tickets include the RMV combined ticket for relaxed RMV travel planning.

The P+R parking garage Borsigallee 24A, Frankfurt am Main, is suitable as a P+R car park. From here you can easily continue your journey with the U7 line.

In view of the changed Corona situation, with the following conditions and precautions: For children from the age of 12, the school test booklet or a daily rapid test is now sufficient for admission, unvaccinated people too a certificate can also come to the games with a test. There is still no mask requirement for the time being. Admission starts at 5:45 p.m. to smoothen access to the hall, for season ticket holders the gates open at 5:30 p.m. We therefore ask all fans to arrive early.

Position of the lions: Quickly out of the starting blocks!

With a 5:3 win in the hard-fought lion duel with their fellows from Bad Tölz, the southern Hessians got off the starting blocks well after the international break and have them Leader of the table successfully maintained.

The parade formation around Rylan Schwartz (20 points), Dylan Wruck (19 points) and Ryon Moser (17 points) also proved to be extremely accurate against the boys from Upper Bavaria. Each of the three Frankfurt scoring leaders hit the mark against the Tölzer. However, Yannick Wenzel and Tomas Sykora also underlined the depth of the attacking formations of the leader with their hits.

The opponent: tedious way up

The Kassel Huskies are still well below expectations in the table, having made a veritable false start with only four points from the first nine games. But those responsible in North Hesse kept their nerves even in the crisis and stuck to ex-lion tamer Tim Kehler as coach.

After four threes in a row, the North Hessians have worked their way up to 10th place and want to continue to expand this series with Mitch Wahl, who joined the team from Bremerhaven at the beginning of the week. The ex-draft pick of the Calgary Flames, well known from the Crimmitschauer times in the DEL2, should give the storm, which has started rather stuttering, more depth. Significantly, two defenders, ex-lion Joel Keussen (13 points) and last year's defender of the year Troy Rutkowski (12 points), also lead the internal scorer ranking.

Prognosis: Everything is open

It is completely open who will prevail in the duel between the front runner and the currently hottest team in the league. Even the history of the two teams can hardly serve as a pointer. 22 lion victories are opposed to 21 successes by the huskies, the goal difference is also almost balanced at 136:141 from the lion's point of view.

But one thing seems certain: a 1-0 lead has only limited significance. In 19 of the 43 games, the match was turned around by the team that was initially behind. The lions in particular proved to have strong nerves with 13 comeback victories.
